CJ, my partner was reading to me accounts of Muslim Hamas atrocities in the middle east during its war with Israel.
I will not mention them here, but suffice to say they were cruel and barbaric.
It reminded me of the My Lai massacre in Vietnam where around 300 children and adults were killed in retaliation for American losses.
It also reminded me that hate, when it escalates removes all forms of decency in people.
If we have never felt that depth of hate it is impossible to understand it. Hatred, so blind and deep in dark consciousness that we do not consciously remember any conscious decency within us.
It is a form of blind madness.
I feel that Donald Trump may have that depth of darkness within him, but it may not surface until or if he reaches power again.
We like to think that we never would stoop to such a level, but that does not mean we can’t be pushed there.
Fear begins the descent into it, followed by hatred and finally a blinding rage to seek and get revenge.
Few Americans have felt the pain of such loss, but if the election brings significant violence we could see America in disruption and chaos.
Violence, death, loss and then anything goes as we may loose the last ounce of decency towards others and ourselves.
I hope, as I am sure you do too that we will never experience such pain and darkness.
It is a loss we may never recover from in this lifetime, if ever.
Robert.
